Soffit and fascia are the finishing edge of the roof, and they do more work than their tidy appearance suggests. The fascia closes off the rafter ends and carries the gutters, while the soffit encloses the underside of the eaves and, when vented, lets the attic breathe. On the coast these are also the parts most exposed to driven rain and the first to show rot when something upstream is failing.
Because vented soffit is the intake side of a balanced ventilation system, we treat it as part of keeping the whole roof dry rather than a cosmetic trim job. Continuous or panel venting draws cool outside air up under the sheathing, which fights the attic condensation that comes with our damp winters and helps reduce ice-damming on homes at elevation in Sea-to-Sky and the eastern Fraser Valley.
We install and replace soffit and fascia in low-maintenance aluminum, vinyl, or real cedar to suit the home, correcting rot and undersized venting as we go. Clean fascia lines also mean gutters that hang straight and drain the way they should.
